Ice shield is designed to divert any water that gets under the shingles down to the roofs edge. It is suppose to ad-hear to the top of the drip edge. Someone came up with the idea to wrap the fascia with ice shield and tell customers it's the best system. If the ice shield product is designed to let the ice back up water ride to the roof's edge, what do you think happens when the water is allowed to ride behind the gutter? Worse yet, the aluminum fascia? You will not see the casualty of this until the 4th to 8th year. The the fascia boards will rot from behind the gutter.
